Why do I need to create an account?

Q:I've been using Feednuts forever and I've never needed an account to submit new feeds before...why now?

A:We have two reasons for implementing this procedure.

1. As you can imagine Feednuts gets hundreds of automated spam bots attempting to submit poor quality feeds. One of the things that sets Feednuts apart from the other RSS directories is that we do not allowed automated submissions. We hand check each and every submission so that we can create a high quality repository and not just some spam pool. That being said, we are confident that by having users create an account in order to submit that only those that are serious about posting high quality feeds will attempt to submit a feed. Sure there may be a determined spammer or two that will attempt to circumvent this, but we are hoping to reduce the number of automated submissions significantly with this decision.
2. We want to provide a mechanism for users to be able to manage their submissions. So if something changes and you need to update your feed, you will be able to do so easily. We also want to offer other services such as customized home pages, statistics, and possibly a browser toolbar that will allow you to access Feednuts data, submit feeds, etc... but we need to tie this information to an account in order to do so.

One thing we would like to set straight is that we are not ourselves spammers and we will not start sending you a bunch of spam because we now have your email address. We may offer to send you information about Feednuts from time to time but only if you opt-in to receive such mailings. We also will not be selling your email address to spammers or offer to mail you things on their behalf. We may provide you with the opportunity to receive information from our partners but it will be on an opt-in only basis. You will be able to remove yourself at any time, and we will literally remove you from the list such that you no longer receive unwanted email from us.
